Photo Gallery

Come check out some examples of Information Architecture, Usability, and Interface Design. See how these can actually effect the users web browsing experience with these personal reactions. Unfortunately the photo gallery will not support captions because of a parse error, so here are the captions for each picture:

Universal Studies is building a Harry Potter Theme Park. I want to find out when it opens. Oh how convenient, it states on the main page that the Theme Park opens in Spring 2010. This is a good use of Information Architecture. They determined what kind of information that most users would want to find out and placed it in a area right on the main page. This eliminates trying to figure out what link to click. This is also a good example of Interface Design. The web site is interesting to look at, and has a cool magical type cursor.

Picture 2

I really LOVE Harry Potter, and am SO excited for the Theme Park to open in Spring 2010. However, I want to find out what month it is going to open.

Picture 3

Oh, when I hover over the image saying that the Theme Park opens in Spring 2010 a hand pops up, this must be a link for more information.

Picture 4

What the french toast? It is not letting me click on the image. I am confused, why does a hand pop up if this is not a link? This is a poor example of usability. The cursor should not change to a hand if the image is not a link. The tools are not allowing me to get the information I want, and I am just getting frustrated. I guess I have to go try somewhere else

Picture 5

I guess I will go to the FAQS link. Hopefully this gets me the information I want.

Picture 6

Ok the first question is "When will the Wizarding World of Harry Potter open?" This is just what I wanted. This is another example of good Information Architecture. The most asked question is placed at the top of the page so users will be able to see it easily. This is also a good example of usability. Information users want to know most is placed at the top. The first place a user will look.
Picture 7

Hopefully here they tell me what month the Theme Park will open.

Picture 8

Again with the Spring 2010.

Picture 9

This is not what I wanted to find out, I already knew this. I am done trying to look in multiple places for the same answer. Spring 2010.
